The 1990 and 1991 Granges are regarded by many as extraordinary wines with incredible power and finesse. James Halliday calls this vintage flawlessly supple. In 1990 Grange dropped the Hermitage tag, to align with the name by which it had been known internationally for many years. 95% Shiraz, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Kalimna and other Barossa Valley vineyards, Clare Valley and Coonawarra. A very great vintage with a perfect warm, dry growing season and harvest, yielded a Grange with solid structure and dominant fruit characters.

A long time between drinks, the last Cellar Reserve Cabernet Shiraz was the tiny, yet unforgettable 1993. The tradition of innovation and experimentation is central to Penfolds and is perpetuated in the form of Penfolds Cellar Reserves. Graeme's Blend is the Passing Cloud flagship. Eponymously labelled after the proprietor winemaker, Graeme's Blend has consistently delivered a cornucopia of breathtaking Bendigo fruit every year since inaugural vintage 1980. The unirrigated Passing Clouds property produces meagre yields these days and grapes are called upon from outstanding vineyards between Bendigo and Heathcote. Parcels of Cabernet and Shiraz grown to eminent Bendigo sites are assembled around the backbone of estate grown fruit to create a complex, more powerful wine.

Metala was the first ever to win Jimmy Watson Trophy, a significant accolade in the world of wine. Fruit for the White Label is sourced from splendid Langhorne Creek vines which can trace a heritage back to the original plantings of 1891. In its day, originally crafted by the current winemaker's forebears, the century old block at Metala Creek still contributes grapes. An Australian classic, internationally lauded and perennially feted, Metala is brimming with mouthfilling berry flavours, seasoned by regional eucalpt and mint, lined with a fine touch of supple oak.

The development of the Riverina as a major winegrowing region was primarily due to the foresight of the McWilliam family. The estate's founder was greatly impressed by the soil profiles and access to irrigation. Longview are one of the most highly awarded wineries in Adelaide Hills, having claimed trophies and medals at conspicuous national tasteoffs. The predominantly northeast facing slopes and valleys, combined with the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills and superior winemaking practices, have produced outstanding vintages. A forward drinking effort with distinctive violet and cassis Cabernet characters mixed through with spicy Shiraz fruit. Vinified in traditional open top, two tonne fermenters, treated to heading down boards, rack return and pumpovers, before being pressed off to an extravagant selection of mostly new French and American oak barriques for malolactic and extended maturation.
